Gee, I've got questions

The only persons I have discussed this Lap Band idea with still is you and Bubba and the fitness instructor at our office Gym I was considering rejoining afterwards.
Bubba has been NOTHING but positive. NOTHING BUT.
The gym person was pretty much against the idea totally, even referred me to his boss's blog and book "Fat people are stupid.com".
http://www.fatpeoplearestupid.com/ They called Rocco over for a chat.
I got a 30 minute lecture on how dumb an idea this is last week. In public.
--------
My appointment with the doctor today was cancelled by them due to snow here in Cincinnati. No rescheduled date yet, but they said it would be in the next two weeks most likely.
I really want to talk to the doc about this idea, and I have a ton of more questions.
------
Background-
I need to find out if I COULD do a 50 or 75 mile ride again afterwards.
Having had kidney stones three times after bike rides I have to make sure that I drink LOTS now. Having my kidneys do that usual work as well as the work of filtering out the weight loss.......well, I need to find out from the doctor if it is even possible. One of the many web pages I read in the last few weeks discussed kidney stones and also how many folks end up having GALL BLADDER problems and even GALL STONES, leading to the GALL BLADDER REMOVAL SURGERY.
The activity levels all the things I have read talk about INCREASING activity. But most of that is from ZERO to a half hour. I already ride in my basement 3-4-5 times a week for 30-60 minutes. I already walk 30 minutes a day and if it was nice out I'd do more. I walked for an hour yesterday because it was nice out.
During the first year, could I even do a 50-75 mile ride? 30 minutes is all I read about. 50 mile rides usually have one or two rest stops. I can't drink a half hour before, or an hour after eating. I doubt I could ride all day and not eat. I KNOW I could NOT ride for 90 minutes and NOT drink. Do I use a can of Slim Fast or Protein shake for my mid ride meal? One thing I read discussed Fruit smoothies. GOBA has a smoothie stop. So, HOW DO I DO IT?
If it came down to it, I would give up a summer of long rides if I had to.
-----
So, some major thinking to do, and some discussions with someone who has done this and ridden are much needed.
